David Miller is the Co-Founder of Brightway Insurance, one of the largest property and casualty insurance retailers in the country. With annual sales exceeding $1 billion, Brightway has earned recognition from Forbes as the #1 Franchise to Buy in the U.S., from Entrepreneur Magazine as the No. 1 insurance franchise in the country, and from Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the country 10 times.
Miller believes great organizations and communities reach their potential only when each individual reaches their own personal potential. His focus on community building centers around four social action pillars: public discourse, poverty,education, and social justice.
Miller was a lead investor in the Emerald Trail and is currently Co-Trail Champion. He is a tireless advocate to ensure necessary government funding provides the project is constructed as envisioned.
Miller was an early investor in LiftJax, served on their board, and is successfully working with stakeholders from across the community to help ensure systemic prosperity and re-energize the Eastside neighborhood.
Miller is passionate about bringing people together to address the complex issue of improving educational outcomes. His ongoing investments in City Year, Read USA, and the Jacksonville Public Education Fundare are making a difference while building capacity to do more.
Miller currently serves on the Senior Advisory Council for OneJax, and recently invested in the Sandy Miller Metrotown Institute, which brings youth from all over the city together to build character and develop future leaders. The program now bears the name of his mother who was instrumental in developing the program nearly 30 years ago.
Miller is also an ongoing investor in the United Way. He has served on their Board, led the Annual Tocqueville Campaign, and was the first Chair of the Stein Fellowship Program.
Miller serves or has served on a number of other boards including VyStar Foundation, Jacksonville Civic Council and Jacksonville Civic Council Foundation, Jacksonville Arts and Music School, Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute, Leadership Jacksonville, Chamber of Commerce, and Jewish Community Alliance, where he is a past president.
In response to the rise of anti-Semitism, both locally and nationally, Miller established the Together Strong Community Fund as a vehicle to build bridges and combat hate and bias of all kinds in our community.
Miller holds his family at the center of his life. He and his wife Monique have two children, Josh and Leah.
