Jessie Ball duPont Fund Welcomes Accomplished Nonprofit Financier as Trustee

April 5, 2021 Jacksonville, FloridaThe Jessie Ball duPont Fund, a private foundation committed to creating communities of belonging for the people, organizations and places that Jessie Ball duPont knew and loved, announced that its trustees elected nonprofit financier Charles “Chuck” Redmond as an individual trustee of the Fund.  Chuck is serving an initial five-year term that began in January 2021.

“Chuck brings deep expertise in nonprofit finance and strategic planning that compliments the duPont Fund’s increased focus on finding innovative ways to put our financial assets to work to benefit the communities we serve,” said Rev. Eddie E. Jones, Chair for the Trustees and Episcopal priest for the Diocese of Florida, who chaired the trustee search committee. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our group of dedicated, passionate trustees, especially as we work to become a trustee body that better reflects the diversity of our communities.”

Chuck is vice president of Venture Philanthropy Partners (VPP)+ Raise DC, nonprofit organization that acts as a regional backbone for cross-sector collaboration and direct investments,supporting children and youth (ages 0-24) and their families in Greater Washington, D.C. Chuck joined the VPP+Raise DC team in 2017 to lead the firm’s business support functions and long-term strategic planning. His role at VPP+RaiseDC builds upon work done earlier in his career to build financial sustainability while achieving measurable impact for mission-driven organizations.

Prior to joining VPP+Raise DC, Chuck worked as a strategist with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a rare disease-focused venture philanthropy organization, where he helped define core values for the organization and build a long-term financial model to frame resource allocation decisions against mission-related outcomes. Chuck began his career working as a consultant at McKinsey & Company where he supported clients on a range of topics from corporate finance to organizational health. While at McKinsey, Chuck co-founded the D.C. Social Impact Group which provides pro bono consulting services to nonprofits and social enterprises in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Chuck holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Science in International Business and Finance from the University of South Carolina.

Chuck joins six Fund trustees who represent national and international public and private organizations with expertise in the nonprofit, higher education, religious and banking and investment sectors. The Jessie Ball du Pont Fund has strategically increased the proportion of its endowment engaged in impact investments over the past seven years. As of 2020, about one-third of the Fund’s endowment is invested in a socially responsible manner or invested to achieve a positive impact, such as the preservation and creation of affordable housing or small business development for women and people of color.
